Holiday Parties During COVID

It is safe to say that Holiday staff parties will look a little different this year. While we all continue to do our part by staying home and avoiding large gatherings, many companies might be asking how they can still celebrate the holiday season and spread some festive cheer on what has certainly been an interesting year. Here are a few suggestions on how you can engage in some holiday fun:

Host a virtual party!

We understand! Most people are feeling more then a little “zoomed” out right now. For a virtual holiday party, one hour is more then enough time to hold interest but not over do it. Consider sending out gift cards or a cocktail recipe to each of your employees, so everyone can enjoy a nice treat during the event. There are many funoptions for making it an interactive hour, from playing a game show, such as “How well do you know your team?”trivia, to listening to some live music while enjoying a glass of wine (or two)! Meeting virtually for a bit of fun, rather than “just another meeting” is a great way for everyone to connect and share a few laughs.

 Donate to a Local Charity

Engaging your team in a way that also supports a local charity of your choosing, is an easy way to bring in some holiday spirit and support local. Run a Toy Drive or collect donations to the Food Bank that are matched by the company. Set up a funding page to raise money for a donation to a local organization that you love to support – you could include an incentive to the team if they reach a certain goal.

Support a Local Business

Many local businesses and restaurants need our support more than ever, especially around the holidays. Grab a gift card to a restaurant that offers take-out as a nice gift for your team – they can treat themselves to a nice dinner and support local at the same time. Alternatively, put together a small gift basket with some locally sourced goodies for each team member. Make it a challenge to support as many businesses as you can or pick one to make gifting boxes for you!

Now, it is so important to bring your team together. If your comfort level allows, some venues and hotels are offering amazing holiday packages that include socially distanced set-ups and appropriate safety procedures. With most companies working 100% remotely since mid-March, bringing everyone together to wrap up the year on a positive note is a great way to re-connect and make sure you that you move into 2021 with a cohesive and engaged team.

Happy Holiday Planning!
