Meet The Team: MJ Bailey

By
MJ Bailey

MJ has worked with Lorandus Meetings & Communications for almost 6 years in the Project Management department. Starting her career off as an Assistant in Registration and now as a Manager, heading up several large-scale projects each year. We asked MJ a few questions about her job, her travels, and her experiences along the way.

  1. What is your favourite part of working in your position at Lorandus?

I really love to be creative – my passion lies within designing projects and themes with our clients. Choosing décor, menus and the little (but important) details with my client partners and vendors is fun and exciting for me! Watching and pulling these elements together for the events, in person is very rewarding! I also consider myself to be an organized person and really enjoy the organizational aspect of ensuring that we achieve a successful event for our clients and the attendees.

  1. Where is the best place you have travelled?

I have had the privilege to travel quite frequently over the last 6 years and have visited many places. One spot though, that makes the top of my list and stands out to me is Budapest, Hungary. It is a beautiful city with so much history and character. I have spent time there personally and ran a large event in Budapest in the spring of 2019. My favourite part of the city is looking over the river Danube at the beautiful parliament buildings lit up at night. The food is delicious and while there, be sure to try some goulash – the famous Hungarian stew!

  1. Do you have a favourite hotel?

With so many hotels to choose from – it is hard for me to choose just one! One that always stand out in my memory though, is the beautiful Powerscourt Hotel located just outside of Dublin, Ireland. This Autograph Collection Hotel is located on the beautiful Powerscourt Estate, which is in County Wicklow, also known as the “Garden of Ireland” – if you have visited, you will know why. I stayed here one night on a recent trip to Ireland and was blown away by the gorgeous view from my spacious room and the peacefulness of the surrounding landscape. Ireland feels like a second home to me and I would go back to this property in a heartbeat!

  1. What is one meal that you enjoyed while away that you cannot stop thinking about?

While in the Bahamas on a familiarization trip to the Baha Mar Resort we were hosted for dinner at their authentic Chinese restaurant, Shuang Ba. We enjoyed a multi-course meal that included a variety of appetizers such as cherry foie gras, a selection of dim sum and their famous hand-carved Peking duck, for part of our main course. Not only was the food delicious, but I was able to try many dishes that I have never tried before, prepared and presented in an amazing way! If you ever visit the Baha Mar property, they have many great restaurants to choose from, but I highly recommend spending an evening at Shuang Ba.
